This Privacy Policy explains how Bio Wizard ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website at biowizardrevision.com (the "Service").

We are the "data controller" of your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who this Service is for

Bio Wizard is intended for A-level Biology students, who are generally aged 16 and over. If you are under 16, please make sure a parent or guardian is aware you are using the Service.

What information we collect

When you use Bio Wizard, we may collect:

• Account information — your email address and a securely stored (hashed) password when you create an account.
• Your answers and results — the answers you type into practice questions, and the marks, feedback, and scores generated for them.
• Subscription information — whether you are on the free or paid plan, and a customer reference from our payment provider. We do not store your card details ourselves (see "Payments" below).
• Technical information — basic information such as your device and browser type, and log data, collected automatically when you use the Service.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• create and manage your account and log you in;
• provide the Service, including marking your answers and showing your feedback;
• manage your subscription and process payments;
• send you essential account emails (for example, email confirmation and password reset);
• keep the Service secure and working properly;
• comply with our legal obligations.

Our legal bases for processing are: performing our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to run and improve the Service securely), and your consent where required.

How your answers are marked

To mark your answers, we send the answer you submit, together with the relevant marking points, to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a score and feedback. This is used only to mark that answer and return the result to you.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run Bio Wizard, and only as needed to provide the Service. These include:

• Supabase — secure database hosting and account authentication.
• Vercel — website hosting.
• Anthropic — AI processing to mark your answers.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending our account emails.

These providers process your information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Some may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.

Payments

Payments are handled securely by Stripe. When you subscribe, your card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. Please see Stripe's own privacy policy for details of how they handle your payment information.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we will remove your personal information, except where we are required to keep certain records by law.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate;
• ask us to delete your information;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• request a copy of your information in a portable format;
• withdraw consent where we rely on it.

Security

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you logged in and to make the Service work. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
